IEU Advances Gender Equality with Interactive Training by Oleksandra Romantseva: Understanding, Challenging, and Combating Gender Inequality

On December 3, 2023, representatives of International European University took part in the Gender (In)Equality In Layman’s Terms interactive training by Oleksandra Romantseva, a prominent civil rights activist and Executive Director of the Center for Civil Liberties, to support and fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals.
Within four hours of training, the speaker explained the concept of gender and its impact on the human rights and freedoms in simple words. Oleksandra revealed such issues as gender socialization, i.e. the formation and development of our understanding of gender.
Key topics included the in-depth analysis of gender inequality: its foundations, manifestations and consequences. Attendees examined different gender roles and stereotypes that frequently become an obstacle to real equality.
Special attention was paid to gender violence posing a serious threat to society. Oleksandra helped to understand what gender violence is and how to combat it. The training also covered the ways to counteract discrimination and inequality in the modern world.
Knowledge is power. Understanding gender issues and their impact on our lives, we can establish an inclusive society with equal opportunities for all participants in the educational and scientific process at the University.
Such activities make our society more open and equal. We express our gratitude to Oleksandra Romantseva for this valuable training!
